Sitting is one of the most important tricks to train your dog, as well as being one of the easiest. Some dogs may not like coming, some might want to follow you when you want them to stay, and some are too rambunctious to want to lie down when you are trying to train them to do the tricks, but sitting is surprisingly easy to train your dog to do. If you dog were to get away from you and be running right towards the path of an oncoming car, as long as your dog reliably knows how to sit, you may very well save your dog's life by calling out "sit!".
