Royal wedding: A stylish marriage for William and Kate | UK news | guardian.co.uk
Bells pealed, crowds cheered, even the sun put in a timely appearance, as Prince William emerged from Westminster Abbey with his bride on his arm.
Wearing a broad smile, a Wartski wedding ring of Welsh gold and an ivory gown with lace applique, Kate Middleton – now Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge – joined The Firm amid the pomp and pageantry Britain prides itself on performing well.
Before a global television audience of many millions, Kate played her part to perfection. From the dress – by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen, kept a secret until the last moment and sending the British fashion industry into paroxyms of ecstacy – to the 1936 Cartier diamond tiara loaned by the Queen, she looked every inch the fairytale princess.
Sealed with a kiss. What a lovely couple!
Titles announced for Prince William and Catherine Middleton
The Queen has today been pleased to confer a Dukedom on Prince William of Wales. His titles will be Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus.

DUKEDOM: Cambridge:
In 1706 George Augustus (subsequently George II) the only son of George Ludwig, Elector of Hanover (subsequently George I of Great Britain) was created with other titles Duke of Cambridge. On the accession of his father to the throne in 1714 he also became Duke of Cornwall and was created Prince of Wales. On his own accession to the throne in 1727 the Dukedom of Cambridge merged with The Crown and ceased.
Cambridge was previously a Royal Dukedom and four sons of James, Duke of York (afterwards James II) who died in infancy were all created Duke of Cambridge. As an Earldom Cambridge was a medieval Royal title. Edward IV was Duke of York and Earl of Cambridge till proclaimed King of England in 1461 when his titles merged with The Crown.
His father and grandfather both Richard Plantagenet were both Earls of Cambridge and the latter was also Duke of York. Edmund of Langley, 5th son of Edward III and great-grandfather of Edward IV, was created Earl of Cambridge in 1362 and Duke of York in 1385.

And Congratulations to the happy couple on their Wedding Day today!

Kate's Last Goodbye as a Single Girl
Kate Middleton, centre, arrives at the Goring Hotel, London, with her mother Carole and sister Pippa
Kate Middleton has waved to the crowds outside The Goring hotel as she made what is expected to be her final appearance before Friday's wedding.
She was greeted by hotel owner Jeremy Goring as she stepped from a black Jaguar outside the entrance at 5.45pm.
Dressed in a black and white spotted dress, she was accompanied by sister Pippa and mother Carole.
They were welcomed by a large crowd of enthusiasts who had waited outside the central London hotel all day for a glimpse of the bride-to-be.
The hotel had been the scene of frenetic activity all day as final preparations were made for Miss Middleton's arrival.
She is staying at the five-star Belgravia establishment, on Beeston Place, with her sister, brother James, her mother, and father Michael the night before she marries Prince William.
To ensure no-one catches a glimpse of her in her wedding dress before she arrives at Westminster Abbey, a canopy has been erected over the front of the hotel.
It's royal wedding fever here in England and Kate's last night as a single women.

John James Audubon - Drawn from Nature | American Masters | PBS
John James Audubon is best known for The Birds of America, a book of 435 images, portraits of every bird then known in the United States – painted and reproduced in the size of life. Its creation cost Audubon eighteen years of monumental effort in finding the birds, making the book, and selling it to subscribers. Audubon also wrote thousands of pages about birds (Ornithological Biography); he’d completed half of a collection of paintings of mammals (The Viviparous Quadrapeds of North America) when his eyesight failed in 1846.
His story is a dramatic and surprising one. Audubon was not born in America, but saw more of the North American continent than virtually anyone alive, and even in his own time he came to exemplify America – the place of wilderness and wild things. The history of his life reveals his era and his nation: he lived in Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Louisiana, South Carolina and New York – traveled everywhere from Labrador to the Dry Tortugas off Florida, from the Republic of Texas to the mouth of the Yellowstone – was a merchant, salesman, teacher, hunter, itinerant portraitist and woodsman, an artist and a scientist. He was, in a sense, a one-man compendium of American culture of his time. And his growing apprehension about the destruction of nature became a prophecy of his nation’s convictions in the century after his death.

Portrait Photographer Ipswich
The three most important things to get right in portrait photography are camera settings, lighting and your relationship with your model.Make sure your subject takes up most of the photo. Use the rule of thirds to position your subject at the intersection of one of the 3 horizontal and vertical lines. These intersections represent the spot that your eye will be most drawn to.
Depth of field - Keep the subject in focus and everything else out of focus. You need a short depth of field which can be achieved by moving in close to the subject or by using a long focal length or using a lens with a large aperture.
Camera settings - Large aperatures can also help create a short depth of field. For manual settings iso 100 is good when you have plenty of light or iso 400 if it's a dark day or indoors. Remember to set your shutter speed. Alternatively set your camera to auto.
How to take great photos.

Nine best ever skincare tips
Whether it’s switching to a different moisturiser for the summer months or swigging a barley grass cocktail, we’ve grilled the experts about their top tips for perfect skin.
Getty Images
Seasonal skincare
Depending on your skin type, the products that help your skin survive the colder months might not work as well during the summer. "I always recommend that as the seasons change you re-assess your skincare regime accordingly," says Geraldine Howard, president and co-founder of Aromatherapy Associates. "For instance, the harsh winter months are draining and as a result skin requires a more deeply nourishing layering of rich oils and creams to keep it hydrated and smooth. As the skin-friendly warmer weather moves in, lighter products generally provide enough nourishment to ensure a healthy complexion. Serums are particularly perfect for this time of year - they are fantastic at getting actives into the deeper layers of the skin without being too heavy."
Here are some great tips for your skin.

Reiki Healing Attunements and Treatments - Ipswich / Suffolk - Complements
Reiki Healing
Reiki, the ancient Tibetan art of healing, channels universal life force energy through the therapist’s hands to the client. The channelled Reiki energy aids the body’s natural ability to heal itself as rediscovered by Dr Mikao Usui in Japan in the 19th Century. Reiki has been practiced for thousands of years and heals on all levels.
Negative energy blocks are cleared to promote a balanced mind, body and soul. This therapy is non-intrusive and clients receive healing fully clothed while lying down. The therapist’s hands hover just above the client and the client may experience heat or a tingling sensation as well as deep relaxation, peace and well being.
Reiki therapy is also very effective on animals and birds and even plants. Reiki is called hands on healing, however, during a treatment the therapist’s hand rarely touch the client. Helen was once asked about Swedish and Indian head massage and whether she also “did that thing where you wave your hands over people and make them feel better?” She agreed and laughed, as it is difficult to explain the mechanics of Reiki healing to those who believe and trust in this ancient therapy, let alone anyone who has never heard of it.
How do you fancy some Reiki Healing?

Unfortunately it seems it's quite easy to forget just how many people could be watching you in the big wide world of social networking, especially if your privacy settings aren't tweaked just right.
With that in mind, here are our top 10 things you should never reveal when social networking: how many of these Facebook fails are you guilty of?

Unexpected Visitors | Feeding Wild Birds Blog
This morning I woke up to a banging and clattering noise that seemed to be coming from the roof.
When I looked out of the window I could see we had some unexpected visitors in the garden.
To my surprise I saw 4 mallard ducks wandering around the garden.
I grabbed my partner’s camera and tried to photograph them, but couldn’t get his camera to work. So I took some shots with my camera which isn’t all that good for distance shots.
Two of the mallards jumped on the low wall and begin drinking out of the big water bowl. I thought I would try my partner’s camera again and realized I had forgotten to switch it on before (well I had just got out of bed lol).
I got a couple of decent shots and then they flew on to the garage roof, started “talking” to each other, then flew away! It's surprising who you find in your garden!

Foods men hate that they really should eat
Getty Images
Healthy food comes in all shapes and sizes. Some of it - strawberries, lean steak, tomatoes - is delicious, bursting with flavour and packed with nutrients.
And some of it, well, isn't. It's unfortunately true that some of the most healthy foods a man can eat are also the things he finds least palatable. Yet the health benefits of these foods means we should all be fighting past the gag reflex and eating them anyway.
You'll probably find a few of following foods disgusting, and a few more a little unpleasant. But you might want to try one or two anyway. They're awfully good for you.
Does your man eat healthy food?

Macular Degeneration: The Blindness You Can Prevent
What Is Macular Degeneration?
AMD Strikes Blue Eyes More Than Brown
This is a disease which results in loss of vision in center of the visual field due to damage to the retina. It usually strikes older adults."The inner layer of the eye is the retina, which contains nerves that communicate sight, and behind the retina is the choroid, which contains the blood supply to the retina.
In the dry (nonexudative) form, cellular debris called drusen accumulate between the retina and the choroid, and the retina can become detached. In the wet (exudative) form, which is more severe, blood vessels grow up from the choroid behind the retina, and the retina can also become detached. It can be treated with laser coagulation, and with medication that stops and sometimes reverses the growth of blood vessels".
This is an usual eye condition that people should be tested for.

10 things he’s thinking when you’re naked
Find out what he really thinks when you're naked. You might be surprised…

Wow, her skin feels so soft
It's a cliché for a reason - your skin does feel like satin to him. A man's skin is around 20% thicker than a woman's, so even if you think your skin feels rough, to him it's like creamy silk. Men tend to have more oily skin than women too - so when his hand glides across your body, it doesn't get stuck, adding to that super-smooth sensation.
What is your man thinking? The mind boggles!

Valuable vinyl
Image: Valentina Petrova - PA Photos
CD sales have fallen in recent years, with music fans opting instead to spend their cash on live events and digital downloads. But you might want to think twice before clearing out your record collection.
The market for rare and collectable records is booming. Scarce items by iconic acts like the Beatles and Jimi Hendrix are fetching five-figure sums at auction, while more modern names are also proving to be worthwhile investments.
And it's not just obscure items that are climbing in value. UK retailer 991.com - one of the world's biggest dealers in collectable records - saw sales increase 15% last year to £1.5 million, as increasing numbers of investors opted to plough their money into rock and pop.
So how much are your old vinyls worth?

Angelic Human Race | Humanity Healing Network
“When angels visit us, we do not hear the rustle of wings, nor feel the feathery touch of the breast of a dove; but we know their presence by the love they create in our hearts.”
~Mary Baker EddyThe Angelic Human Race is one that has been around since the dawn of time. Today, more and more are awakening and remembering who they really are, where they came from and why they are here. They are stepping forward to take peaceful action and to realize their rightful soul purposes.
We dedicate this video to those beautiful Beings who are equally respected in the eyes of the Divine Source.
The Spiritual Purpose of the Angelic Humans is part of the larger Cosmic Mission of the Christic Realignment Consciousness.

the world UNPLUGGED
College students around the world are strikingly similar in how they use media – and how ‘addicted’ they are to it, according to a new global study of university students by the International Center for Media & the Public Affairs (ICMPA) in partnership with the Salzburg Academy on Media & Global Change.
This new study asked close to 1,000 students in ten countries on five continents – from Chile to China, Lebanon to the USA, Uganda to the United Kingdom – to abstain from using all media for a full day. After their 24 hours of abstinence, the students were then asked to report their successes and admit to any failures. In aggregate, the students from a dozen universities wrote close to half a million words – or about the same number of words as Leo Tolstoy’s War and Peace.

What is Paris Hilton Up To?
It’s also clever of her marketing team Paris to jump on the Marilyn bandwagon because retro advertising is very in vogue right now. (Mad Men, anyone?)She released the fragrance last Wednesday night at MyStudio nightclub in Hollywood, California. (If you care, it apparently incorporates fuji apple, white peach, bergamot, white flowers, amber, blond wood and hot sand. Which I will admit doesn’t sound that bad but I’ve smelled a few of her scents are they are sickly sweet. Like I’m eating a pink strawberry dipped in rainbows and unicorns.)
"Tease is my 10th fragrance. We have done so many over the years but this one is more mature. The last time I did Fairy, I did Mermaid. I was younger, now I am more mature. I thought it was a really glamorous fragrance," Hilton said on the night.

Collins quits 'to be full-time dad' - Music news, latest news, breaking music news, singers, bands, MSN Music - MSN UK
Phil Collins said he's retired to spend more time with his kids
Phil Collins has told how he decided to knock his music career on the head for the sake of his children.
The chart star, who has been in the spotlight for more than 40 years as a member of Genesis and a solo star, said he wanted to correct the perception he was a "tormented weirdo".
It followed a recently published magazine interview which implied he was giving up music because he felt no part of the modern music scene and because of a back injury.
In a message to fans on his website, he confirmed he was "stopping", but it was solely to be a "full-time father".
Phil said articles written about him had "ended up painting a picture of me that is more than a little distorted".
Bad reviews, a feeling that he did not fit in or that he felt unloved were not to blame for him "calling it a day", he said.
"I am stopping so I can be a full-time father to my two young sons on a daily basis," the 60-year-old went on.
Phil Collins is going to be a full time daddy. I used to really love his music!
Cher Lloyd and other music star riders
Taking a look at some of the more bizarre requests made by musicians on tour...
Rex
That might be a tray of chips in Cher Lloyd's hand but, according to an X Factor insider speaking to the News Of The World, she insists on sausages delivered to her dressing room for when she comes off stage.
Not only that, her room must contain a full 'chill out area' with special sofas, pillows and blankets, and there must be a fully trained masseuse on hand at all times.
If Cher's getting a tad ahead of herself, it's presumably because she's trying to emulate proper A-listers like Beyoncé, P. Diddy, and Lady Gaga, whose dressing room requests (or riders, as they're known) are the stuff of legend.

Is Your Broken Relationship Worth Saving? | Broken Relationship Advice
When you break up with someone you love it really hurts. You have all that history together and you remember all the good times you once shared and all the happy memories you have of your time together. You feel so heartbroken and try to figure out what went wrong.
But sometimes a relationship ends simply because it has come to the natural end of its life. I believe some relationships have a limited time, it doesn’t mean the relationship was bad or worthless, it can simply mean that you are now moving in different directions and want different things from life.
Do you think a broken relationship is worth saving?
