Osteopathic Treatment

Is Osteopathic Treatment Right For Me

If you are looking for an osteopath but are a bit uncertain, remember that to qualify, an osteopath must study for four to five years for an undergraduate degree. This is similar to a medical degree, with more emphasis on anatomy and musculoskeletal medicine. By law, osteopaths in Ipswich must register with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC). It is an offence for anyone to call themselves an osteopath if they are not registered.

Initially the Osteopath will ask you about the pain you have been suffering and then do a physical examination of the area in question. After the examination the Osteopath will create the correct treatment plan that is right for you.

There are many ways in which pain in the joints can begin. Your joint pain may be arthritic pain or be caused by sports injuries or simply from wear and tear. Once it has been established where your joint pain is coming from, then you can begin your treatment plan.
There are different treatments such as soft tissue, joint articulation, mobilisation and manipulation which can be used to improve the range of motion in the joints and help to decrease pain.

If you are wondering whether Osteopathic treatment would be suitable for you, this webpage will give you some information to help you decide.
